A Free 45-Minute Masterclass for Family Law Firm Owners Who Want to Stop Guessing and Start Growing
How to Moneyball Your Family Law Firm: A Free 45-Minute Masterclass for Family Law Firm Owners Who Want to Stop Guessing and Start Growing
Most family law firms run like old-school baseball teams. They trust gut feel over hard numbers. They chase impressions and clicks instead of signed clients. They hire when they feel busy, not when the math says they're ready. They're grinding every day, but can't prove they're actually moving forward. In 2002, Billy Beane faced a similar problem. His Oakland Athletics had a $40 million budget to compete against the Yankees' $125 million. He couldn't afford the star players everyone else was chasing. So he found an edge. The entire league was obsessed with flashy stats—batting average, RBIs, stolen bases. Beane ignored all of it. Instead, he built his team around the one metric that actually predicted wins: on-base percentage. He won 103 games at one-third the cost. They called it "Moneyball."
A decade ago, we borrowed that playbook at Sterling Lawyers. We identified the 8 numbers that actually predict whether our family law firm grows or stalls. Then we built a system around those numbers—what to track, what "good" looks like, and exactly what to do when a metric falls short. We run this system every single week. That's how Sterling grew from 2 attorneys in a small office to an $18 million firm with 27 attorneys across multiple locations. Now we're teaching you how to do the same.
On March 3rd, join Tyler Dolph (CEO of Rocket Clicks, Co-Owner of Sterling Lawyers) and Anthony Karls (President of Rocket Clicks, Co-Owner of Sterling Lawyers) for a free, hands-on masterclass where we'll walk you through the 3 critical moves to "moneyball" your family law firm: SCOUT IT: Learn the 8 metrics that reveal whether your firm is winning or losing. SPOT IT: Run a 15-minute diagnostic that pinpoints your biggest bottleneck. Is it your answer rate? Show rate? Close rate? You'll know exactly where you're leaking revenue—and what to fix first. PLAY IT: Build the weekly rhythm that turns data into decisions. Stop running your firm like a practicing attorney and start running it like a CEO with total clarity and control. This is the exact operating system running inside Sterling Lawyers right now. And for the first time ever, Anthony Karls will demo it live—pulling real data and walking through the calculations so you can see exactly how we diagnose problems and make decisions. This webinar is for family law firm owners who are wondering why "busy" never turns into "profitable." Give us 45 minutes. We'll give you a system you can run in 15 minutes—and answers you've been chasing for years

Conflict resolution doesn't always end at the mediation table. When agreements stall or disputes persist, arbitration often becomes the next step - but how do professionals transition given ethical considerations, judicial review and client expectations? This program brings together experienced practitioners to explore the practical and strategic transition from mediation to arbitration. The panel will examine how mediation outcomes, negotiation dynamics, and party expectations can inform arbitration strategy, evidence presentation, and case framing. You’ll learn when and why arbitration is appropriate, how to preserve key advantages from mediation, and what pitfalls to avoid when shifting forums. Whether you guide clients through both processes, advise on dispute resolution options, or simply want a deeper understanding of how these mechanisms intersect, this session delivers actionable insights to strengthen your approach and achieve better outcomes.

In this program, leading family law attorneys from across the country will compare and contrast their states’ approaches to alimony, spousal maintenance, child support guidelines, deviation factors, high-income cases, and enforcement mechanisms. The panel will explore how differing statutory frameworks, case-law trends, and judicial discretion shape outcomes—and why familiarity with other jurisdictions can strengthen your strategy, negotiation posture, and litigation preparedness.
Family law does not function the same from coast to coast—especially when it comes to alimony and child support. With increasing mobility between states, multi-jurisdictional families, and financially complex cases, practitioners must understand how other states calculate, modify, and enforce support.

Equity Partner
Beermann LLP
Katy Mickelson is an Equity Partner at Beermann LLP, a 50+ attorney family law firm founded in 1958. After transitioning from a lucrative career in consumer public relations, Katy began her family law career with Beermann as a clerk during law school. Since she joined Beermann as an attorney in 2005, Katy has helped grow the firm to be one of the largest and most well-respected family law firms in the United States.
Katy's trial and courtroom experience is extensive, and she believes that each family law client has a story to tell, whether it is related to complex financial matters or parenting issues. However, she also subscribes to the philosophy that public disputes in court should only be a last resort to resolve family law conflict. When costly litigation can be avoided, Katy will draw on her experience as a certified mediator to settle cases efficiently and expeditiously. It is this commitment to practical, no-nonsense problem-solving that has clients entrusting their most complicated, sensitive and nuanced family law issues to Katy.
Katy’s unique background in business and marketing, and her understanding of the importance of effective storytelling and messaging in family law, set her apart from her peers. Katy considers her audience – whether it is the client, judge or opposing counsel – carefully. She listens and then speaks, which allows her to come up with creative solutions that are uniquely tailored to that specific case or client.
In addition to her support as a Fellow of both the IAFL and AAML, including serving on the Board of Governors for the Illinois Chapter, Katy gives back to the family law community in other ways. She serves as a faculty member for the National Family Law Trial Institute in Fort Worth, Texas; as a mentor for younger family law attorneys; as chair of Beermann’s Law Clerk and Externship Program; and as a frequent panelist, author and lecturer.

With case backlogs, judge shortages, and mandatory time limitations, it is challenging to have pendente lite matters heard. As a result, discovery disputes, temporary support motions, and custody issues are often delayed in favor of ongoing trials. Many of these issues can and should be addressed in private arbitration. Hear from experienced arbitrators on how they have been able to hear and resolve pre-judgment disputes through the arbitration process.
